Edinburgh Wedding Anniversary

40th Wedding Anniversary

I had such a fun day shooting Cathy and Stewarts 40th weddings anniversary, even after 40 years of marriage, they are still in love as much as they were when they first met. It was a beautiful summers day with not even a cloud in the sky, a rare thing living in Scotland. As an Edinburgh wedding photographer, I love taking photographs around my city.

Cathy and Stewart were looking to have photos together at their favourite locations around Edinburgh. We started off at South Queensferry where we took photos beside the iconic Forth Rail Bridge and Forth Road Bridge, this is a special place where Cathy and Stewart love visiting. Later we progressed onto Cramond which is another place that is close to their hearts as they used to go there when they first met.

After Cramond we headed up the Firth of Forth to the coastal suburb of Portobello, with 2 miles of golden sands it was a perfect location to take photos on the beach and reminded them of their regular romantic walks along the promenade. We then finished the day in central Edinburgh at Carlton Hill, with its grassy slopes and panoramic views of the city, including Edinburgh Castle and a great view North of the ruddy-coloured cliffs of Salisbury Crags at Arthur’s Seat it was an ideal location to finish off with some silhouettes with the sun was coming to down.

I loved spending the day with the two “love birds”,  below are my favourite selection of photos from the day, hope you enjoy them.

Edinburgh Engagement

I got to spend a couple of hours getting to know Hilda and David and had great fun during the shoot. Hilda is from Sweden and David is from Australia and they met each other in Edinburgh, so it was a great to go around Edinburgh shooting at various spots.

There was a bit of a chill in the air but that didn’t spoil the fun we started off climbing up the foot of Arthur Seat to St Anthony’s Chapel where we took some photos and took in the breathtaking views of Edinburgh and surrounding cities and towns. We then moved close by to Duddingston Loch which is located in Holyrood Park and had some photos by the Loch and lots of swans came over to visit us (I think they thought we were looking to feed them). We then finished just off the historic Edinburgh Royal Mile where we took photos against a graffiti background. It really was an enjoyable day walking around the city, with some beautiful views over the city.

Hilda and David said these kind words:

“A few months ago, Steven picked my girlfriend and I up and took us on a photoshoot around the Lochs and cliffs of Edinburgh. It was a fantastic day, a lot of fun, with Steve coming up with poses and positions that made for some lovely photos. We spent a few hours out there with him and within a few days, had some fantastic photos to send back to our families in Sweden and Australia. I would recommend Steven for couples looking to get their special moments captured in a fun and professional manner. Thanks Steven!”

Hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as I loved taking them, below is a small selection from the engagement shoot.

Mansfield Traquair Wedding

As a regular Mansfield Traquair wedding photographer, it is always a pleasure getting to take photos in such a stunning historic venue that is referred as “Edinburgh’s Sistine Chapel”. that is located in the heart of Edinburgh City Centre.

The day started early in Edinburgh City Centre at The Place Hotel where I got to spend the morning with the groom and groomsmen, the day was partially special to me as it was my birthday. With 6 out of the 7 being from England it was funny watching English people trying to work out how to put a kilt on, after they managed to succeed they all agreed that they looked great.

After the guys were ready, we took the 5 minute walk to the Mansfield Traquair which as always looks spectacular and the groom and groomsmen greeted the guest as they arrived before taking their seat for the ceremony. The bride and bridesmaid arrived slightly later than planned as the bride left her vail at home and had to go back for it, so this added to the tensions within the room. They eventually arrived and the bride her bridesmaids were looking beautiful.

It was a lovely ceremony with lots of laughter and tears all round and when the ceremonies officer pronounced them husband and wife there was a huge cheer from the room. After the bride and groom got some couple photos, the meal and speeches followed and again lots of tears, smiles and laughter within the room.

The evening guests arrived and shortly after the bride and groom cut the cake. Once the evening guest arrived the bride and groom took to the floor for their first dance and then they along with all their guests danced the night away on a very busy dance floor.

Below is a selection of my favourite photos from the day.
