Dunkeld House Hotel Wedding
As a regular Dunkeld House Hotel wedding photographer, I love the way you can create such beautiful couple pictures amongst the 280 acre estate which overlooks the River Tay. I love photographing weddings in Perthshire, it really is a stunning part of the British Isles, and with Dunkeld itself just 90 minutes from 90% of Scotland, it really was an ideal location for a Wedding.
As you enter the ground, it takes a good 2-3 minutes to reach the hotel, you then realise it’s going to be a good day. This wedding was extra special for me as it was my first same sex marriage.
I started off the using my new toy (Mavic Drone) to capture some of the amazing scenery at Dunkeld. Both Diane & Gaynor were getting ready at the hotel (only a few meters away from each other) so I got to spend time with them both and their bridesmaids, who were all in full spirit with lots of laughter.
The ceremony itself took place in the “grotto” within the grounds, which is actually really romantic even if it doesn’t sound it. As space was very tight there was only around 15 friends and family there to witness the special moment.
After the ceremony as the guests had refreshments I managed to take the newly weds away for some photos. As the hotel is located on the banks of the River Tay we managed to take the happy couple on the rowing boat along the River Tay to Dunkeld Cathedral for photos. Afterwards we went back down the River tay to the Hotel where we spent some time going around the grounds for more photo opportunities.
The speeches then followed and Diane’s father did a very emotional speech that had the top table in flood tears. After the meal the cutting of the cake followed before the happy couples first dance. The dance floor was very busy with a variety of music ranging from traditional Scottish Ceilidh to up to date chart music.
