Edinburgh Engagement

I was pleasure meeting Janet and Eric, they really are a lovely happy couple. They are both from Canada and are over in the UK on a 2 year visa, so it was great to capture their Edinburgh Engagement.

The thing I liked most about them is they are embracing the fact that they are living in a new country for a short period of time and they want to get involved in as much local and Scottish and British traditions as possible before departing back to Canada, where I have no doubt they will grow old and happy together.

I loved the shoot, got to spend time in a beautiful part of Edinburgh. We started off at a lovely cobbled street in the Stockbridge area. This is where the happy couple often go for walks so were delighted to have photos done there for them to look back on and cherish. We then finished at the Water of Leith, which is 24 miles from its source in the Pentland Hills, so had plenty opportunities to take some photos.

It was great getting to know Janet and Eric, during the shoot I was educated about the different traditions between our two countries, which was great and very enlightening. We have stayed in touch and met up for a drink a couple of weeks later, which was great.

Janet and Eric said these kind words:

“Steven captured some moments of us in our neighbourhood in Edinburgh this summer. Steven was very professional and incredibly responsive as we were planning the details of where and when we were to meet up. He was very patient and was always looking for a new angle or perspective to capture a unique moment. We enjoyed our photo shoot with Steven and we were very fortunate to have been a part of his photography journey.”

Hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as I loved taking them, below is a small selection from the engagement shoot.

Beecraigs Engagement

I was great meeting Donna and Shaun and spending a couple of hours with them, they are such a lovely young couple. This shoot was extra special as Donna was only a 6 weeks away from giving birth to their child. We decided to go to Beecraigs Country Park in West Lothian, it was my first time but with over 900 acres, it was a great location to take photos.

We started at Beecraigs Loch, where we took photos on the walkway on top of the Loch, which in itself was challenging trying to walk, it felt like walking on a waterbed. After we did photos beside the Loch, we then ventured into the forrest itself, which was lovely and really busy with families going for walks and walking dogs.

It was great getting to know Donna and Shaun during the shoot and I am delighted to say that Donna gave birth to a healthy boy called Lyle in July.

Donna and Shaun said these kind words:

“Had a great experience today with Steven, the photos look great and can’t wait to see more, what an amazing talent you have will be amazing to meet again when baby is here to get more photos done, your work is amazing!!”

Hope you guys enjoy the photos and again congratulations on the birth of Lyle, below is a small selection from the engagement shoot.

Edinburgh Engagement

I got to spend a couple of hours getting to know Hilda and David and had great fun during the shoot. Hilda is from Sweden and David is from Australia and they met each other in Edinburgh, so it was a great to go around Edinburgh shooting at various spots.

There was a bit of a chill in the air but that didn’t spoil the fun we started off climbing up the foot of Arthur Seat to St Anthony’s Chapel where we took some photos and took in the breathtaking views of Edinburgh and surrounding cities and towns. We then moved close by to Duddingston Loch which is located in Holyrood Park and had some photos by the Loch and lots of swans came over to visit us (I think they thought we were looking to feed them). We then finished just off the historic Edinburgh Royal Mile where we took photos against a graffiti background. It really was an enjoyable day walking around the city, with some beautiful views over the city.

Hilda and David said these kind words:

“A few months ago, Steven picked my girlfriend and I up and took us on a photoshoot around the Lochs and cliffs of Edinburgh. It was a fantastic day, a lot of fun, with Steve coming up with poses and positions that made for some lovely photos. We spent a few hours out there with him and within a few days, had some fantastic photos to send back to our families in Sweden and Australia. I would recommend Steven for couples looking to get their special moments captured in a fun and professional manner. Thanks Steven!”

Hope you guys enjoy the photos as much as I loved taking them, below is a small selection from the engagement shoot.
