Dundas Castle Wedding

As a regular Dundas Castle wedding photographer, I love the way you can create such beautiful couple pictures amongst the 400 acre estate.

The Dundas Castle which is in South Queensferry is one of Scotland’s most beautiful and historic castles and it is one of the top 5 star exclusive use venues in Britain. With only 6 miles from Edinburgh is a perfect location for any wedding. The modern castle itself was built in 1818 and oozes history.

As you enter the ground, it takes 2-3 minutes to drive up to the castle, you then realise you are in for a special day, it really was a fairytale wedding from start to finish. I got to spend the early part of the day with the groom and his 5 groomsmen as they got ready. The bride wanted to make sure there was photographic evidence of the groom ironing as he doesn’t do enough of that at home. After the groom and groomsmen were ready we went downstairs to relax prior to the ceremony starting and the groom and groomsmen had a game of snooker and a few beers.

The ceremony itself took place in the medieval tower of the Auld Keep within the castle, it was if it was straight out of a storybook as the groom along with the guests waited patiently as the Scottish piper lead the bride and bridesmaids up the spiral staircase into the great hall, where violinists performed as the bride walked down the aisle. It was a lovely ceremony and there was a huge cheer when the words “I pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride” was announced.

After the ceremony as the guests had refreshments as the piper entertained them we took the newly weds away for some photos. With such a stunning location there were so many great opportunities for photos. The scenery was truly breathtaking at the top of the tower as the bride and groom took a minute to take in a view as they gazed at the three iconic bridges.

The meal then followed, the whole wedding party stood as the cheft carried in the haggis, lead by the piper playing the bagpipes. The piper very entertainingly then recite the address to the haggis.

The cutting of the cake followed before the bride and groom had their first dance. There were lots of smiling and laughter throughout the evening as well as a very busy dance floor.

Below is a small selection of photos from the day.
